The LA Times Festival of Books is an old Freed family favorite from when my older daughter was in the single digits. For the past couple years, it has been held at the University of Spoiled Children oops, I mean USC, but it used to take place at UCLA – Go Bruins! (My husband and father-in-law are staunch UCLA Basketball supporters.) All cross-town rivalry aside, this year’s lineup of authors and performers is incredible, ranging from locals like Roy Choi, Zoe Nathan, and Robin Abcarian to Octavia Spencer and Malcolm Gladwell.
Admission to the event is free for the 20th year in a row. Free Conversation tickets are available at the event in limited quantities on the morning of each Conversation, although you will need to pre-purchase tickets for speakers like Gladwell (found here) and might want to consider reserving Conversation tickets ahead of time starting on April 12 at 9am. Happy reading!
